To read into it because he joined yesterday and asked a question today seems a stretch.

The Supreme Court justice Potter Stewart once said about pornography " I can not define it, but I will know it when I see it"

Maybe he will post some of the images then we can judge for ourselves whether or not they are tasteful.

Seems people are anxious to be rude spiteful and mean to others when hiding behind their keyboard. The strongest message delivered to one you object to or disagree with is silence.

Again my take is my take. I don't think that I was rude but accurate. On the buy/sell board we have people with less than pur motives that are outed. Short time ago, "Uncle Joe," was doing student photo's. I was informed of this and there those that are monitoring in his community. It just doesn't ring true. J. R.

WOW....you can't have pornography with out photography because THAT is what it is....as the court said....."I know it when I see it". Just because some of you don't like it...don't read it....you can NOT have a photography forum without EVERYTHING photography discussed. I am not into birds and I skip reading. As far as the police...pornography is protected by law....get over it.........

I think it's worth separating nudity, sex, exploitation, and violence. The first two are completely natural, the second two are a big problem, but we tend to mix them all up. It disturbs me, but our (American) culture is much more accepting of violence than nudity.

You’re free to photograph whatever you want just as I am free to have an opinion about what is moral and what is immoral. I’m not suggesting you agree with my opinion only that you allow me the right to have one even if it disagrees with yours. Isn’t that what freedom is?

Ok. You have an opinion on the morality of some photography. Ok. Case closed. Now back to the marketing issue raised by the OP .....

Everyone has a right to an opinion (based on facts)....pornography is protected by law....cyber bullying is not....some of the statements here would therefore be immoral.....................

Same over here- you can shoot somebody's face off, all sorts of violence- no problem. A bit of healthy consensual sex- 'no, can't show that now, children might be watching...'
A very sad reflection of western culture.

I do hope you realize that the more rabid here only display their shortcomings and often are so aggressive because of their own behaviors like the anti-gay idiot who really was a gay or the Christians preachers creaming in a microphone against sin while screwing his secretary in addition to his wife and who knows who else...

I can't get my head around this being the place for "adult content". The suggestion is pornography. I'm no prude. And I'm no authority to express any "rules" on what other people like to look at, or use in however manner they wish, including taking advantage of innocent lives at crucial ages. That's what the laws are for. But at the same time, I didn't join this site to have any association in any way with any pornographers, purveyors of pornography, or those who promote pornography in any way, including "just to build up my equipment". So it would be my suggestion that you seek another venue, many of which would be most welcoming to the subject. I just do not enjoy it here and would appreciate seeing it barred from this site. -Thank you.

Chill out and go back under your rock. This is a forum for PHOTOGRAPHY - no matter what kind. No pornography was shown. No adult content was shown. The word pornography wasn't even used by the author. No details of an adult content photo shoot were described. Nothing has been said except asking how to go about marketing a product.

"Taking advantage of innocent lives at crucial ages?" What the hell is that about? I doubt if people with innocent lives at crucial ages are asking this author to shoot them in compromising sexual positions for public viewing - especially since there would be model releases involved. "I'm no prude..." Really? Cut me a break.

If this author wants to buy more equipment with money made from shooting adults who WANT to be shot for this purpose then that's his right in our country and theirs too. I don't completely understand why these people asking for his services would want to be shot then let him have the rights to sell the stills for HIS profit when it's THEM who should get the profit but that's not my problem nor yours.

If he markets their adult content then he logically becomes a "purveyor and promoter" of it in your terms, or a marketer of it in my terms. Then there's the problem of defining what is adult content, art, or porn. Even the U.S. federal government couldn't define porn for purposes of arresting those who create adult content except in the case of underage children.

If the author just takes adult photos and they pay him for doing so so they can do their own marketing, then he's just a photographer fulfilling an assignment that came to him like any other assignment by providing the equipment, studio lights and space, and pressing the shutter button.

In reality, I think this author is not saying directly, but I'm sensing between the lines, is that he's found out CraigsList is literally full of ads for "Models Wanted" for adult photo shoots that hacks pretending to be professionals are doing and they even go into detail as to what they want the model for - be it foot fetishes, petite panty fetishes, big butt fetishes, etc. The posters of those ads don't say where or how these photos are going to be sold or whether the model gets paid a flat rate or by commission from each still that is sold - and this author wants to see if we know those answer so he can go into that with a free CraigsList ad as well.

It's not my place to judge others nor is it yours. The author came on here politely to ask a question and did so without being offensive. I would recommend that if you want to put filters on what you read, and wear blinders on yourself so you don't accidentally see a "filthy pornographic whore teenage hot girl on the street with short shorts and a cut-off tee-shirt" walking with her friends, you should never leave your curtain-darkened house, nor watch TV, nor open a magazine - then dig a deep hole and stick your head in it so you can't accidentally see yourself or your spouse undressing at night for bed. Also feel free to leave UHH if you like while you're at it because photographers of anything and anybody are supposed to be welcome here as long as they keep it clean and play nice with others.

For that matter, we don't know what UHH members here shoot unless they've outright stated it. There may be 100 "purveyors" that you would hate on here but nobody talks about it. I'm not but that doesn't mean there aren't some.

Feel free to ignore my posts and comments in the forum from now on. I simply have a goal which I'm trying to accomplish and this is the type of work that I have fell into simply because that is what my phone has been ringing for.

Since I gave the first caller a date to shoot I have had 4 more people calling with the same idea.

This is a photography forum... correct?
I asked a photography question... correct?

Maybe it wasn't along the lines of "hey, which f/stop works best in this situation for focal length" but on the business side, that doesn't mean I'm doing anything wrong.

The question isn't a 'big hook', it's a question.

Maybe your 'Depth of field' and our depth of field have two different meanings.

As to point 2, last in first out applys when one HAS to go. No one HAS to go. If YOU have a problem, YOU may leave.

As to the rest of the points, you already answered them in point 3: "Grow up."
