My images import upside down and sideways into computer

I posted this earlier but the auto-correct changed my title. All of a sudden some (many), not all, my images are transferring from my SD card into my MacBookPro either sideway or upside down. I shoot with a D7100. Any suggestions? Could I have inadvertently bumped a button on my camera somehow? Is there even a control for this on the camera? My shoot was 400+ images and roughly 125 of the images are upside on my Mac. On my MBP I create a folder in "Pictures" then copy the images directly from the SD card and then copy into the created folder. This hasn't upside down thing happened until yesterday. And yes, I always hold the camera in the same way
for portrait one way of course for landscape another, but I never vary, in other words, I'm consistent in how I shoot. Any help on this will be really appreciated. Thanx!

I've been shooting the D7100 since they came out and have never had that happen . Did a search on the net and haven't been able to find anything either.Sorry I can't help but will keep an eye on this post to see what come's up.Be interesting to find out.

is there an option in the camera menu to auto rotate? Maybe that will give them the correct orientation before downloading them

In the D7000 menu settings, there is a control for the orientation, under the setup menu (tools symbol). When this function is turned off, the image will not rotate the orientation, but left on, it should rotate those taken to the correct orientation. I don't know if the D7100 is the same but may be. You can also set the playback menu to 'rotate tall'. Hope this helps.

Wanda .Think you got it. Checked mine and I do have it set to on and that is probably why I've never had his problem. Thanks Wanda.

You have Apple stores in Las Vegas. Make an appointment at the genius bar under the category of the computer you use. They will answer any questions and there is no charge.
Unfortunately, your problem his most likely in your software and not the computer. What program are you downloading your images into? When I find that happening, I just rotate the images in that program but it doesn't happen that often to me.

'Rotate Tall' is only to rotate photos on the cameras view screen so you don't have to turn the camera to view them.

Maybe it is an Australian camera, only to be used in Australia. Yes this is a joke and your problem is serious to you, but the answers you have received here are good ones and should take care of your problem. I was just trying to lighten the mood.

Once when I had this problem someone suggested saving the shot in TIFF. It seemed to solve that problem. Just make sure where you are trying to upload it supports TIFF files.

I would check the program you use to import/view the images and see if it has a "auto rotate" setting.

Agree with Old Redeye. Auto rotate camera function will probably be the fix for you.
