So, I hate traveling on the holidays. For the first time in 15 years my wife's family decided to have a reunion over the Thanksgiving Holidays. We traveled from Anchorage to Myrtle Beach, SC, rented a house and entertained 31 for Thanksgiving dinner, two turkeys, two hams and an abundance of appropriate sides. I thought the weather would be great and opportunities to capture new birds would be as well. I was wrong ...at least with respect to the weather. It was cold, windy and rainy. In between I did get shots of some birds I had never captured before (or noticed for that matter) so all was not lost. I look forward to trying again when the weather is a little bit better.
I will do this in several post ...this is the first.
An American Oyster Catcher ...about 100 feet from me
Once again

Nice!
Thanks Linda. He was very far away and only had my 100-400. But since I had never seen one before, he added to my list.
Very nice, great advertisement for the 100 - 400 lens.

Thanks Joe. I like the lens for walking around. My 500 mm is certainly sharper but the older I get the harder it is to lug around and hand holding it is always risky for quality.

Thank you very much Ray. I wish I could have gotten a little closer, but such is life.
