I liked his suggestion that they take money out of the politician's salaries before they start hitting the military.

How about cutting welfare before cutting our vet's pensions?

Sad to say but some of our Vets are on welfare so cutting this program just hurts them worse.

bc, what is missing in the budget deal was the "way" in which it was arrived at - no discussion in the subcommittee, or full committee - it was almost like an Obamadeal; passed in the middle of insanity! Federal pensions weren't touched; just this single carve out against military retirees and the disabled. Didn't even provide a "grandfathering" for current military retirees. I applaud the ability of the congress to (finally) reach compromise with both side of the isle in solving the budget dilemma - just not the results.

As far as I am concerned, these jokers are a long way from getting any applause.

You are right and we will never learn the truth of all the behind the scenes deals. Personally I think that this "budget" stinks and does not resolve Washington's spending problem. If they really want to make serious cuts in spending they can start with the Federal government and cut down its size and benefits, eliminate a number of departments, white house czars, Obamacare, reduce congressional salaries and benefits and cut down on all the welfare programs.
