That professional look...
OK, I hope I get lots of feedback on this one!
I have a Canon 7D. How do I get that professional look you see on Christmas cards, family shots, ect. I have a 70-200 L Canon lens, plus a few others. I'm still missing that, "look"! How do you do that??? I'm dying to learn!
Smiles,
Cindy
If it were only so easy that it could be answered in a forum post.
And that "look" has many variations.
How many years do you have? :-)

Hi, that was quick! I was looking for a picture that my daughter had taken of her family for Christmas, to post. I will have to work on that. This same photographer took pics at a Christmas Party and it still had, that, "look" of a professional. I'll post some as soon as I find it. She has the whole album on FB. It's a rich, deep, yet soft image. As for years, I'm not a pro, but have always loved Photography, just have alittle more time on my hands right now! :)

Getting the "Look" takes practice both with getting the image right in camera and then knowing what steps in PP you need pull the whole thing together.
I wish it was easy, I'd be the first one to jump on that train. I've been learning for just over a year, shot with a Canon 40D and a 24-70L. I am know where near where what I would consider the professional look.
I wish I knew what "look" you are all talking about !

The top pic is one at a Christmas party, the bottom is a professional shoot. Her pictures are beautiful.

Well....I think the first one was shot with a prime....maybe 35 or 50mm, looks like soft flash....maybe a diffuser, and kind of a wide aperture !

practice, study, practice, study, practice, study. :)
It's a combo of knowing how the exposure triangle works, how to use it to get the results you want. You need sharp focus, so the first part would be using a tripod or finding out how slow/fast of a shutter speed you can hand hold.
I'm still learning (will always be learning). I have managed to get a pretty sharp focus, now I've moved on to other aspects to get the over all look of someone who knows what they are doing.
Ligthing and flash is the look. I take portrats all day long. The flash and light is the trick and lots of Photos. The more you take the better. I'm still learning and going back to school to finsh my bachrlor in digital Photography so stay tuned. I will pass on the tricks..LOL If there are any.
