My name is Cody Roschelle I joined this site in hope of some easy tips to get some clear and classy head and full body shots. I got some alright ones using the auto focus on my cannon power shot SX130IS However there were still blurry lines around the hair. I used a light beige wall in the house with windows to the left and right.

Going out on a limb here but your expectations may be too high for this camera. There are so many features attached to this camera that it cannot be expected to do any of them really well.

I suggest starting by getting more light on the subject.
Set the shutter speed as high as possible with the light you have available.
Clean the lens, turn off the image stabilizer if possible.
Keep the camera steady as possible. You shouldn't try to hand hold the camera if the shutter speed is 1/60 or below.

Keep the ISO as low as possible and the picture quality settings as high as possible. And you might try a different background color, sometimes camera sensors just hate certain colors.

But without seeing the problem in a photo my next guess would be you are simply seeing JPG artifacts especially if you are blowing the images up very far.

Maybe someone else here has first had with the camera you mentioned.
