Until just a few moments ago I just heard of a "Chickenfoot Monopod". I was wondering if any of you UHHer's have used one and if so, what's it like?

I don't see the point. Would you turn your back on this monopod while it was holding your DSLR and anything larger than perhaps a 50mm lens? ;)

Nice refs URLs.

Manfroto makes one and it is slightly pricer but the legs, I believe, fold up into the monopod.

You would not leave your camera unattended on this. Unless it is a small PS. Or you are rich and have backups

While Monopods stop the Y axis they don't help with the x or z axis. This offers some, if not all the relief. Just think of it as a monopod Plus!!

I have a Trekpod, the ball head snapped off due to a manufacturers defect. It is ok as a monopod/walking stick but very wobbly and has to be held onto at all times. I would also keep the neck strap from the camera around your neck at all times too.

I have had the Manfrotto for 3-4 years,it's a very sturdy piece of kit,the extra stability available with the foot is worth having. However,do not ever leave a camera on it unattended, doesn't take much to blow it over.

Hogs, I think the monopod will help only the people who don't have shivering. If you have shivering or not always a tripod will helps you more than a monopod. This is my opinion.

I'd rather just have a monopod with a swing-out "thingie" at the bottom to hold down with my foot.
