Nikon D5200 vs. Canon Rebel Xsi: One Man's Opinion
Well, it's been a while but I have come to some interesting conclusions about my new Nikon D5200.
First of all, the Nikon has more features to choose from, maybe 20 - 25% more. Plus, Canon's images (while definitely too warm for my taste) seems to create people pictures that more photographers prefer (warm skin tones). But I like more neutral colors so that later I can make the images the color I want (warmer or cooler).
Canon does cost less though. A good $150 less!
The image quality of Canon is such that I can shoot portraits at ISO 400 and get excellent results. My Nikon can do the same but at ISO 1000; the image quality is that high.
On a scale from one to ten where ten is best and one is poorest: I give Canon's image quality a 7.9 out of 10. And I give the Nikon a 9.1 out of 10.
This, of course, is just one man's opinion about the cameras I have had access to.
If you've had access to BOTH Canon and Nikon cameras, give us your opinion here.
If you do mean the Canon XSi from Jan 2008, it's not really fair to compare it to the Nikon D5200 from Jan 2013. Too many technological improvements in the field as a whole, especially with sensors and autofocus.
Not just sensors and autofocus have been upgraded, but firmware (picture-processing software) has improved too. That's not to mention different lenses and the coatings, contrast, color-rendition and sharpness they provide now vs 5 years ago.
Both good cameras though I, long ago, sold the last of my Canon gear. I prefer the Nikon color and presentation over the Canon though Canon is less expensive
I must say Nikon D5200 is far far better than Canon Rebel Xsi. In lots of comparison based site they gave top ranking to nikon D5200. Personally I have Nikon D5200 which really worth my bucks :)
just while ago read a review about why you should buy nikon D5200 hope that will help you.

Well, it's been a while but I have come to some in... (
show quote)
I used a Canon 5D MkII with a 70-300 L at the same with Nikons D700 and D7100. Nikon lenses 70-200 VR and 24-70.
I could never quite decide which was the best overall. Both brands were excellent under certain conditions.
Recently sold the MkII and D700 and kept the D7100.
In addition, I now have two top end M4/3 cameras and lenses which I like very much. They lag behind in IQ but not by much but have distinct advantages.
It all depends...
