For the love of horses...
Some of my daughters colts turned out on pasture in Moon, SD. It is always so pretty there in the summer time, then after December, it is usually not accessible due to deep snow.
Last photo. My daughter on her horse Krypton, that horse loves her, he makes this little honking noise every time she walks up to him.
Two years ago, he was in a terrible accident very similar to the one in the movie "War Horse". He was mangled in a barb wire fence, which we think was due to a Mountain Lion. It took my husband and another man several minutes to cut him out of the wire. It was awful, he had bashed his head so much prior to being found that his brain swelled and he lost his vision. He was bleeding in several areas, which took us awhile to get stopped with pressure bandages. My husband and son-in-law had to physically pick him up to load him into a horse trailer so we could haul him to the vet. Against my better wishes, due to safety, My daughter road in the horse trailer with the horse, while we trailered him to the vet, who was an hour and a half away. It seemed like it took forever to get to the vets. Once there, the vet hooked Krypton up to an IV with meds that helped to take the swelling down in his brain. He was hooked up to it for a week. His sight slowly came back throughout a several month time period. It took several more months for him to get his balance back and be able to walk a straight line. One thing that I thought was extremely interesting, after several months of being stall bound, we put Krypton in out in a pasture during the daytime with several mares, they would flank him on each side like a guide dog, not leaving him alone.
Now, the happy side, he is fully recovered and rideable, and only has a slight, night vision problem.

Nice affect of the women on the horse
Thank you, Joe. It took me awhile to do it.
Great shots but I like the woman on the horse the best.
Wonderful story, very sweet images!

Thank you, Ebbote. That one is my favorite too.
Great story and nice photos. Would love to see the original of your daughter and Krypton. Thanks for posting!
Wonderful story. I have heard of animals acting as guide animals for other animals who are blind. I saw a goat and horse team up this way on a TV program. The goat acted as the guide for the blind horse.
So glad she didn't lose her beautiful horse.

Great story and photos! Glad he is better. Isn't it amazing how animals take care of each other!!!
Lovely pictures (like your daughter on Krypton best) and the story is great. I have heard of elephants doing similarly when one of their herd is having trouble.
