We took a road trip up and down the east coast a few years back. One of the most interesting stops was the Drayton Hall Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina. Unique period architecture that reportedly is the oldest of its kind, and one of a few original houses that has remained intact to this day from before the Revolution. It was nice to witness a work-in-progress that was focused on authentic restoration rather than renovation resulting in a replica. Sites have a better feel when you get the chance to walk with history.

Just wonderful...I like the balance on this one with the foreground darker and background lighter. I'm a history buff too, and you did a nice job with this scene. Very nice photo.

I like the way you used the tree and the shade to frame the house. Well done!

Not only the house but can you imagine the history that tree could tell if it could talk?

Thank you. There is a long straight drive to enter the property before you turn to park. This scene is at the end of the straight road. There might as well be a sign saying 'Photo Op here.' Appreciate having you look in.

Appreciate your visit and gracious notation. This was a place we happened upon in our travels. From there we learned of a nearby place called the Magnolia Plantation which has better scenery and almost as rich of a history. Turns out it was founded by the same Drayton family that owned this plantation. If you plan to visit one, it is well worth taking in both.

Your visit and response are very much appreciated. Also, thanks for sharing the beautiful shots in the link about the Yellowstone wildlife. We took a tour that included Yellowstone and only saw two bison at a great distance. Fortunately we had a couple of extra days in Custer State Park, So. Dakota and saw similar scenes and herds that were estimated to be over a thousand.

Thanks for viewing. Yellowstone is a great place to visit. Buffalo can be hit or miss there. At least you made up for it in Custer. :-D

The way you framed the house with that tree is attractive. I also enjoy visiting historic places.
