I am heading up to Washington state just north of Seattle a ways for Xmas and would like to try my hand at photographing a few bald eagles along the sound. Does anyone know a good spot to see them.

Have a good trip and a very merry Christmas. Can't wait to see what you come back with.

Actually they just look like they're flying when they fall out of the trees.

thanks for the site. i think its a perfect answer to my question. i will try as best i can to stay dry. thanks for the info.
If you are going to a location north of Seattle you are in luck. There is an ideal Eagle viewing location about 80 miles NE of Seattle. It is a national Bald Eagle preserve. December and January are the best months to go. You can go either on your own or there are many tours by boat on the Skagit River available. The location is on the Skagit River near the town of Rockport, WA. I was born and raised near there. Good luck.

I hope I do not get into trouble posting pics on your page butÂ…here are a few eagle pics (and a heron) I took at the English Boom Nature Preserve on Camano Island, just an hour north of Seattle. And yes, this is my secret photography place I am sharing with you. Go at low tide when eagles and other birds feed in the salt flats and if you get a clear day, Mt. Baker and the snow capped North Cascade Mountains appear in all their glory. There is a nice hiking trail, ample parking, and tons of artistic photo opportunities.
