Strange problem-need ur help

Here's the background first. I use a Mac for photo work & a PC for e-mail. Both monitors are calibrated via a colormunki. Each of them show very close to the same color. I've developed my own icc profiles and what I get from the printer pretty much matches what I see on the monitor. (There's always some difference when comparing transmitted light with reflected light.) Now the problem. This has happened 2 or 3 times now and it's always the same circumstances. Someone on uhh asks for help on a photo. I download the thing, drop it on a thumb drive and import onto the Mac & have at it. I get it where, I think it looks OK. Then Save As on the thumb drive & take it back to the pc for uploading back to uhh. Todays project, the couple in the pretty red topped carriage. It looked OK on the Mac; it looked OK on the PC. I uploaded it and the red turned into some otherworldly ugly orangeish thing! And I didn't do anything to the red top. A goofy major color shirt in one of the predominant colors in the photo has changed on 2 or 3 occasions. I don't get it. When I upload my own photos to uhh they seem to go through just fine. Sooo, guys & gals, what is going on???? HELP!!!

What colorspace are you working in?
And what colorspace are you exporting to?
And what software are you using?

The vast majority of people work exclusively in sRGB, even though it is a smaller colorspace than aRGB.
And the default for jpeg export is sRGB.

Edit: Are you exporting with the ICC profile applied?
Can't do that. That's ONLY for printing.

On downloads I work in CS6 because I have all my NIK programs listed on screen. On my own work I work in aRGB. On downloads I try to stay with whatever then send me. And no I don't apply my icc profile unless I print it. Thanks for your help. It might be a color space problem. I think I worked this one in sRGB, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. Any other ideas, I'm open to listen. I know I've made every mistake in the books over the years and I've created a few originals; but this one just kills me. Just look at that ugly beast I uploaded today. Could a aRGB make it look that bad? Thanks again.

Did you "store original" when you uploaded? If so, when you click the 'download' on it how does the color look?

When you upload a picture that is more than 600 pixels wide or 800 pixels tall, UHH creates a 'thumbnail' that loses color integrity and also loses some of the sharpness, etc.

Bingo. I'm sure I didn't store original. That might be it. I don't understand the process well enough to say for sure. I am very sure that I did not "store original." Thanks a bunch. You guys will get squared around yet. TNX
