Found this program for the Mac, it's called ShutterCount. The program works very well. It costs $2.99 from the app store but you can use it on any of the following cameras.

Canon EOS-1D Mark IV
Canon EOS-1D X
Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Canon EOS 5D Mark III (requires firmware 1.2.1 or later for correct serial number display)
Canon EOS 6D
Canon EOS 7D
Canon EOS 50D
Canon EOS 60D
Canon EOS 70D
Canon EOS 100D / Rebel SL1 / Kiss X7
Canon EOS 550D / Rebel T2i / Kiss X4
Canon EOS 600D / Rebel T3i / Kiss X5
Canon EOS 650D / Rebel T4i / Kiss X6i
Canon EOS 700D / Rebel T5i / Kiss X7i
Canon EOS 1100D / Rebel T3 / Kiss X50

I used it successfully on my T3, 7D, & 5D MKIII

Cheers, Mark

Ahhhh, thanks for that Ron. Is it for Nikon only or Canon as well? I like free ..

I see that it differs in that you need to upload a jpg file into the program whereas ShutterCount reads it straight from the camera with no file so it is not reading the EXIF data …. BUT it's not free :) I did find another one for Canon which is free at
shutteractuations.com It is a downloadable program for Windows and again no file needs to be loaded, it gets the data from the camera. I have not tried this one so I cannot endorse it but it reportedly reads from the following.

Support EOS: 1000D,1100D,450D,500D,550D,600D,650D,40D,50D,60D,7D,6D,5DMKII,5DMKIII,1DMKIV,1DX

The program is however endorsed by this guy

I have heard of this magiclantern a few times, does it work well? I have always been dubious about loading 3rd party software into my camera.

I don't use it extensively but what I have explored with it works very well.

I use it for my Nikon cameras but it doesn't say it's specific...just upload a JPEG and see what happens...the amount of info it gives is incredible, all the EXIF info plus much more as well as the shutter count...and you don't need to download anything to your camera so it's safe, I've been using it for about 3 years now...

Just used www.shutteractuations.com and it is easy as dropping your camera off of a bridge. I have a Canon 1100D T-3 rebel, it is two years old this month. I have tripped the shutter 47,436 times. So now I know.....

Picasa also gives you the shutter count in the new version.
