this is my first attempt at portrait photography with changing the background and cleaning up facial marks in photoshop.

Hi, just a couple of teensy suggestions.
At the moment the subject is looking out of the photo. If you can leave more area in front of him so he is looking into the frame. Also the lighting is too flat.
Otherwise, great start.
Oh, and get rid of the silly skid mark at the bottom of the photo.
Oliver.
Thanks for your suggestions. By skid mark do you mean the name and date or the design that is on his shirt?

I think this is a better shot. However if you have cropped it, can you give the shot more area in front of the subject?
And good to see the skid mark gone. :)
Oliver.
I think both are very good attempts and the name & year adds a good reference point for the subject and family when looking back! And the text you used is very good in this situation.
They're both wonderful shots of a handsome young man. You did a great job.
John
Thank You for all for the critique. I'm new at this and sure could use the help I get from this forum. Below is the original shot I used for the finished portrait.
Stoip with the background. Too un-natural . . .
I don't understand what your trying to say.

Your setting is fine. Just crop less from the LH side of the shot. Skin one cat at a time.
