These guys get along fairly well and are turned out for a quick gallop and a little play time a few days a week. I cropped to exclude some of the distractions and came up with these. They're not great shots, but they're kind of fun. The dog belongs to the owner of the pinto.
"He looks kind of happy, I think I'll bite him"
Racing - sort of
Dust bath after the run
"You bite that end while I distract him"
Delightful! Love the dust bath :)

Thanks Linda. I'm glad you enjoyed these. The group dynamics can be quite entertaining, but we have to watch that they don't get too rough and start kicking each other. The play time is always supervised.

I would never have thought of supervised play for horses - too funny
they are very fun! beautiful horses!
Super shots, Vicky! Love the dust bath! Really enjoyed these. My own horses prefer to roll immediately AFTER getting a bath. : (

They are supervised only because I don't want my new horse to be permanently "damaged." Since he seems to be an instigator, he's also more likely to be kicked. Other than that, they're really pretty good with each other.

Yours are not unique. These were a little sweaty after their romp. The sand sticks to them better when they're damp. I suspect many animals use the dirt bath technique to create a barrier against flies and other pests.
My dogs, on the other hand, go for rolling in all things stinky! It can make for a very unpleasant ride home in the car.

There must a corollary to Murphy's law that states that the amount horses roll is directly proportionate to how clean they are and/or how light their coat is.:-)
