I'm not sure whether he should get a medal, an aspirin or a stupid award but he only takes action when he thinks his equipment is endangered. Check out the video at: http://m.koreus.com/video/wapiti-vs-photographe.html

What we won't do for a photo! I think the "remain calm" option would have ended way earlier. The standing upright seemed to have a proper effect. The photographer could have been removed from the scenario much earlier judging by the vehicles around. It was his choice. I would love to see the photos he managed to snap. It reminds of situations with people/bear encounters. Someone gets mauled by a bear and the bear is hunted down and killed. Hey! It's the bear's backyard. If you can't handle the risks stay out of the yard. The bear is just doing what comes naturally. I know that's easy to say by someone who has never been a victim of a bear encounter but if I should be and survived I would ask that the bear be left alone. I'm the one in the wrong place at the wrong time. My choice. Why kill the bear?

The shame of it is, the Elk was put down, because he no longer feared humans.

Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Those antlers would have gone into his body rather easily. Didn't anyone think that this encounter should end. If the woman who was driving her car from the window sill (another "genius"), could have honked the horn or driven over to the man. There was enough stupidity to go around. You could see that the elk was getting more aggressive.

This was within a few inches of a scary headline in the papers and on the news. "Photographer gored by bull elk!"

8-) 8-) 8-) Jerry, it appeared, when the GMC moved, that the woman was hanging out of the rear seat's window. Kind of difficult to reach the gear shift lever, don't you think? (=:

As I stated in an earlier post, the photographer could have easily been removed from the situation. They should have left the elk alone and shot some of the stupid bystanders.

The first thing a person in the wilds learns is to have a healthy respect for animal life….that man, broke every rule….the elk could have gored him badly, ok, it was curious, but when curiosity turned to aggression, he should have gotten out of there immediately. Did the elk finally had to be put down? Having no fear it became a danger to itself and to any people around him. Personally, i think the photographer was totally stupid.
