Eagle food fight

The temperature dropped to -20F here at Agency lake, Oregon. Need to say the young Bald Eagles were very hungry this morning and very active. The birds were out at least 300 yards and I had to crop. Exposure was f11 @ 1/2000, ISO 500 on a Canon 60D with 100-400 IS L lens.

Great action shot. I see there is not much open water...I think if I was one of those Duck's I would not stick around with those hungry eagles...they may get desperate!

The temp was around -10F last night. A quick count this morning showed around 10 eagles. They follow the South bound flocks and a large portion stay in the area for the winter. A real treat for us. I just open the sliding glass door and happily shoot away.

It is a real challenge to get half decent photos at what I think maybe 500 yards. Here is one I took this morning. I think I was also dealing with some atmosphere conditions. I think I may have 2 Golden Eagles in with the Bald eagles. A Big Sig with the extra reach would sure help to sort things out.

I agree with the lens portion. The temperature portion I have a problem with.
