Nice shot. I did some cropping with my hands. Looks interesting when I removed all the land, and tree trunk. You might try some different cropping.

Very nice. I like the way the leaves look on the bank.

Your capture was such a compelling composition, I took you at your word and did some tweaking. Instead of cropping, I used a touch of vignetting and Split ND filter to draw the eye in towards the reflection. I did do a bit of warming and added a little more saturation. Hope I didn't overstep the invitation to Nikon Craig.

Thank you for looking. The two elements I was most concerned with were the reflections and the line of the stream's bank. The tree and its reflection ended up pretty near the center (Oh, no! I broke the rule of thirds!), but that was the price for the line from lower left to upper right. Gotta admit, the leaves were kind of incidental. In the blown up image, you can see leaves on the bottom of the stream where the shadows fall.

It's a different treatment from what I would normally do, but it's interesting, and I like it. I don't normally go for vignetting, but it works here.

What I did do to the original, after a few normal adjustments, was to copy the image, then apply the Photoshop HDR toning filter. It improved the picture, though I reduced the effect by pasting the original image on top and cutting the opacity to about 60 percent. I'm definitely not a fan of HDR, so I was surprised at the result. I tried that same filter on another image, and almost threw up.

I have never tried HDR, but enjoy the adjustment options available in Lightroom. It's pretty startling to see how someone else visualizes your image. You're a good sport for letting me play with your post; in fact, it's just the second time I've dared to work with someone else's capture. Glad you didn't get too wigged out at me!

I've still got my original photo, plus variations. You asked if you could play with it and I said yes, so even if I didn't like it, I'd have no reason to get wigged out. I realize that there are those who would. Perhaps it has something to do with me having so little hair left, I can't afford to lose any more. ;)

Oh, good. I thought you might have only meant for Nikon Craig to do some cropping and not others to change other aspects of the image. I didn't actually ask permission. :-)
