Had a great couple of days in Iceland. Well worth the -12 temperatures. Unfortunately didnt get to see the Northern Lights but so much else to see and shoot.

While in the Navy, I was stationed at Keflavik for a couple of years. What a beautiful country. These excellent shots bring back great memories. (I was also stationed in Dunoon, Scotland at Holy Loch. Wonderful times!)

I was also in Iceland in the Navy but don't remember it being that cold. There was lots to see.

I was assigned to the Naval Communication Station Keflavik for 18-months, from '71 through '72. A buddy & I ran around the countryside in a left-over WW2 jeep painted bright red. Shot lots of Kodachrome 25 and Ektachrome 64.

I visited Iceland during the summer months several years ago and found it scenically and geologically spectacular. It is the only place in the world where the tectonic plates are moving apart above sea level, hence the volcanic activity.I noted in my images the same blue cast due to the low sun and predominantly cloudy condition.I like the first image. It certainly looks much less hospitable in early winter.
