Lots of people, but its almost free to add to a DSLR so the manufacturers do it for the convenience of the majority. Nikons new Df model did not add video because of its "Retro" design, looks much the same as your avatar.

I bought my Nikon D7100 to take photos. Same for my Sony A580... Being able to make videos with either is a nice bonus, but certainly not a required feature for me.

I dont have an interest in video, so thats how I chose my cameras. Prefer bodies without the potential for failed technology that I wont use anyway.

I've never used the video on my 7D. Not even played with it.

Good luck finding one without...you'll probably pay extra for not having it. On mine, it's there if I need it...but I'd only use it to capture clips of things, nothin serious.

It is not as though you can save a few bucks by dropping that option, just accept the fact if your DSLR has the feature, and just keep it in the back of your mind that it is there is the occasion to use it arises. You just never know.

When I can buy a DSLR that will allow me to shoot video via the optical viewfinder and adjust aperture, focus and zoom on the fly, I'll consider it. But that ain't gonna happen in the near term.

With the "optical" viewfinder? That will never happen on a DSLR, the mere facts of how an optical viewfinder works make that impossible.

EVF yes, OVF no...therefore you'd be looking at a mirrorless camera, not an DSLR, and likely a manual lens too. One would think if you need that much control, you'd be looking at a dedicated camcorder.

I favor video, in fact, that's mostly what I do with my Canon.
I recently upgraded from my t1i to a t3i and the difference in video and stills is amazing... I'm loving it.

Because of my career, broadcast television video production for news / sports / commercials, my love of video has stuck.

So I use only an IS lens and I've added an external view finder (very helpful) and an external microphone. Because I often announce my own work (part of my career) I find the external mike very convenient.

I'm having a great time doing video with my Canon and wouldn't buy a dslr with out it.

Actually, nothing is impossible in the digital world. Just have to figure out a way to provide "optical" optics (not electronic) through a viewfinder without using a pesky mirror that gets in the way during shooting. EVF's are getting better but, for me, after using an SLR/DSLR for 40 years I don't want to give up my OVF!

All that said, if I wanted to give in on an OVF, I might accept a really fast and accurate EVF as long as I could put my eye up to it and not have to shoot holding the camera out in front of my - like in "Live View;" mirrorless cameras will, I think, do that now.

And that is exactly why it is physically impossible.
