I'm starting to do some pet photography in my area. My concern is which lens to use. I have a 50mm 1.8 but I see most photographers use an 85mm for portrait work. I shoot with a canon 60D which has a 1.6 crop factor. Could I get some advice a to which lens to use?

Thank you
Pappy

my opinion only, 100mm lens

I volunteer my photography at a rescue. I have tried several lenses but settled on an 18-70mm with great results. My wife comes along with me and helps with the posing and calming of the dogs. For those that are too antsy she holds them with a grooming noose and I remove it in post with Photoshop CC 2014.
