I had fun watching three grebes fishing. I was using my new camera and trying to capture the scene. I'm not thrilled with the quality but really enjoyed watching them. I was above them and could see them dive, disappear, and come up again scattering the fish.
I tried my best with post processing. I welcome suggestions for what better settings I could have used. The sun was bright and reflected off the water. When they weer under water, it was dark and difficult to see them and focus.

WOW, I would love to see Grebes fishing! I've never had the opportunity to photograph through water so I can't speak with any authority on how to do it better. It would seem that a polarizing filter would cut the glare from the water but that might reduce the light to unacceptable levels.
You've done a great job here!
Thanks for sharing . Sorry , can't help either . Great shots anyways , Tommy
Fantastic series, great that the water was clear enough to capture the set.

Great series of shots. I'm amazed that you got as much underwater detail as you did.
Outstanding series! What a great photo op. Well done.

Great series and fun to see. Thanks for sharing!
Great series. I particularly like the one with the fish scattering.
You could try using a smaller aperture - try f8 or 9, for example, and adjust your ISO and shutter speed accordingly. Don't be afraid of upping the ISO to 400 or even a bit more - you can still get good results. For shots like these I would suggest a shutter speed no slower than 1/500th - faster for shots like the one of the grebe diving. Try different combinations and see how they work out. It sure helps to know what the "sweet spot" is when you come across a bird like that.
