Elephant Orchard

Looking for any suggestions on IR, I just got a filter and started shooting not too long ago. Long exposures are a pain to keep sharp... These are bronze statues in my apple orchard, not the real thing.

Looks like elephants from another planet with a differently-shaped sun. I like it! An unusual artistic treatment like this would look handsome enlarged and framed.

Lens flare gets really bad on my 30mm even when I use a lens hood, but it seems mostly limited to long exposures :|

Doesn't look like you were shooting into the bright sun, so not sure why the len's flares. Would like the shot so much better with none, one might be tolerable to deal with, but not all three. Not for me anyway. Can I assume the bronzes are miniature, shot with perspective in mind, and not life-size?

I like it. It looks other worldly. It's as if the light source is coming from the flare onto the elephants. The flare seems intentional and like it belongs there.

"All hail the floating octagon".

I must watch too much Star Trek.

I like the flares, too. Star Trek? Well, yes I have watched it. All of it. More than once. And all the movies too. More than once. :-P

I was going for a bit of perspective, but I was limited since I needed to hide some narly saplings behind them (one is even peeping over). I've noticed that most of the IR shots I have contain flare or hotspots so its probably a filter thing...

Just curious...In actuality, how big are the elephants? Question concerns an upcoming photo of mine.

They're about four feet tall but extremely heavy

Very nice 'artsy' shot ... I'd enlarge, frame and display it proudly.

I used both and a remote shutter release :?
It was a 5 second exposure and it was kinda windy so I did a lot of waiting...
