Slowly we are getting tied up with what we can do or not do. The following attachement could well be a decider on your printer choise.

Who wrote the "warning"? What type of carts.
Whats next....Car manufacturers telling you what brand of gas to use? Well at least a law was passed that forbid the printer manufacturers from voiding their warranties if you didn't use their brand! I use compatible cartridges and have for years and NEVER had a problem....Just make sure if the name brand cartridge has a chip that the compatible does as well.....

It looks like this is from an ink seller. Too much complication!
tuffsheet what brand do you use and is it an Epson printer. Thanks....Rich

Re' my earlier post, the enclosed leaflet advice was enclosed with the set of compatables that the selling agent gave (gratis)with the Epsom XP 305. I was advised by a knowing friend of mine to load the compatables & keep the starter pack to load up in case the printer prematurly malfunctioned as I would have no come backs with compatables loaded. Quote! "Make sure you keep the Epson cartidge in a sealed bag. These could be re-used if you ever wish to revert back to genuine Epson cartridges and, should a problem occur, they come in useful for troubleshooting purposes".
I'm also aware of the updating of firmware as I could end up with an 'Epson Ink' only printer.
My compatables are purchased from a well known supplier who has never let me down in the past.
I'm more than pleased with the performance of the XP 305, so it's carry on with the compatables & fingers crossed.

I think the operative word is MIX compatible and original inks.
multi ink cartridges therefor its reasonable to only use a full set of one or the other.
I mean, if you are going to use compatibles, you change all the cartridges once and then purchase compatibles from that time. if you are unhappy you go back to Originals and buy a full set of those when they run out.
You are likely to loose a bit of ink when you change your mind - hardly the printer manufacturer's problem

The reason I went with Cone Inks was that they ARE compatible with the Epson inks. Changed from Epson to Cone as the carts ran out, also need to use the original chips from the Epson carts when they empty. Never had a problem. If I was changing inks from Epson to anything not compatible I would have to flush out the Epson ink first or clogs would be more likely.
Actually, they did just that. I remember when unleaded gas was an anomaly, something we used only on our camp stoves. Then it became the "premium" gas, more expensive that regular. As far as I know, laws were passed so we no longer can buy unleaded gas, all the gas is unleaded. We can now only buy unleaded brands. All this would be unnecessary if their were not so many people. When their were not so many people, there were not enough driving cars to create a pollution problem, nature dissipated the pollution. As population rose, the pollution outstripped natures ability to dissipate. Now we have 7 billion people on earth, and do you ever hear politicians, or anyone else, asking us to stop having so many kids? No one ever admits this (except China, those damned commies). Something else is always to blame.

Do you sell your prints professionally? I do, and I wonder if those who use them really get good results. I would love to switch from OEM, I have tried, maybe I had the wrong compatibles.

Actually I was under the impression the new Epson would not work with compatibles. This is at least good news...why would you want to mix them anyhow, except to start changing. Just buy your compatibles, change all at once, and you are a happy camper.

Manufacturers are putting a chip on their ink tanks in an attempt that you to buy their more expensive ink. I was told by an ink supplier they are testing to see if their ink tank will work with the many different printers. Anyone buying a new printer and use the cheaper ink may want to check and see if the cheaper ink is listed for that printer or call them.

RE' earlier post I was asked if the printer packed up after several compatable usages ( I'm now on my third compatable package) how would I stand with my Epson warranty, I replied "with the ink savings I have allready made I could afford to buy a new printer". Except for the environment, where is the sense in that?
kitcar what compatable inks are you using. I hAVE AN XP800 and an artisan 837. Both Epson printers.....Rich
