Conceal Carry Permit Delays

Have others who have recently applied for a CCW permit been waiting longer than expected for their permits? It has been over six weeks for me. I did a search on the net, it seems there are other states with delays. I can not find any reason for my state to delay the issue of permits. How about your state?

Ohio is very quick and easy to obtain a CCW. My first time application took only 2 weeks and my renewal took only 20 minutes, but each state is different and each county in the state treats CCW permit applications differently

You do not need one in Mississippi either but... if you want to be recognized in other states like Louisiana, you will need whats called an advance CCW permit like other states. Would that also mean your state?

One web site that I went to blamed it on the government shut down. Something about the software for background checks being funded. Really?

Vermont, the most liberal of all states, doesn't require one. Who would have guessed?

In the People's Republic of California it varies from county to county. In Los Angeles county, those with connections, and bureaucrats such as Asst. District Attorneys, are issued CCW without any test or training or need. Ordinary citizens are told to go to Hell. In other counties, mostly rural, things tend to be more rational and fair. A notable landmark in San Francisco happened when Dianne Feinstein, then Mayor, illegally ordered the Police Chief not to issue CCW to non-bureaucrats, and also illegally ordered him to issue a CCW to Feinstein herself.

I applied in February 2013, mailed application, was returned because Collier County's fingerprints "were unreadable". After I submitted new fingerprints, permit came late June.

It only took me two weeks here in Oregon, but that was a year or two ago. Since then, they have been inundated with applications and the last I heard, it was taking at least six weeks or more.
