Nikon 28mm 1.8 quality lens or overpriced?

I have the Nikon D7000 with the 35mm 1.8 and 85 1.8 primes

I have 2 zooms 18-70 3.5- 4.5 and a 70-300 3.5-5.6.

I am old school (70 years old) and have tried to like zooms but the aperture and money is more then I care for.

The 28mm seems in the price range I am willing to go, but if there is not a significant increase over the inexpensive 35mm, then I will look at upgrading in a different lens.

Thanks

I would play with the 18-70 zoom and see if the 35 is wide eenough for what you want to do in low light. You would not even have to take pictures. You would just ask yourself if the 35 is wide enough for what you want to do. In film days I know that as soon as I got a 28mm the 35mm went in the bag and never came out again. - Dave

I know you said you don't like zooms but have you ever thought of the Sigma 18 to 35 f1.8. It has great reviews compared to primes plus more range than all the primes you mentioned. Google the reviews on this lens. I also have the d7000 and I'm going to get this lens.
