Going through my old files the other day, I found these long forgotten photos of some barns in Lycoming County, PA.
Kathy in NH, these are for you. :)
The road in the photos is PA Route 87. It was flooded on September 8 when the Loyalsock Creek, which is in a gully behind the trees on the other side of the guard rails, crested at almost 30 feet. Damage to farms, homes, and businesses was extensive.

Nice barns hard to find them with out wires. We travel the backroads and have found a few. Check these out and let me know you think.

Hi Deetle,
The first picture is great.
The second seems to be a little blurred. If you could clone out the blurry plants in the front, which steal the view's attention away from the barn, it would improve the photo a lot, in my opinion. : )
shooting through the windshield, that adds a spot here, there, and everywhere...
Yeah, unfortunately, josoIII, that's the only way I could get these shots. At least I wasn't driving. :D

Phyllis, thanks for sharing I enjoyed seeing them. Barns have so much character, I just love them.
Here are shots of three barns I have many, many, many more. This shot I added a vignette and used it as my Christmas card last year.
This was taken in Stowe, VT on the road that the VonTrapp family from the Sound of Music
Another shot taken in VT in the fall of the same year
These are all great shots, I too love shooting barns. Would love to take a road trip just looking for great old barns. Reminds me of my grandparents farm in Wis. when I was a little girl.
Thanks for sharing!

Glad you like them. We love taking rides looking for these old gems, it is so much fun when we find them.

I, too, am a sucker for old barns. Nice shots.
Very nice collection of photos there Kathy. Love the crispness, Color saturation and pop.

I noticed you did weddings/portraits, perhaps you can mentor me as I am trying to phase into the portrait category. I'd love to do weddings but am chicken, just afraid I will miss or screw up on one of the most important shots. I have done a few weddings for friends and family but that's it. I must admit I really loved doing them and everyone loved my work.
I'm also interested in doing pet portraits as well. I have recently volunteered at a local animal rescue league offering to take photos of the animals for them for their web site and literature. It is also giving me a little experience in that area as well. I also walk the dogs.
"Double Trouble" Boston Terriers
Pit Bulls get a bad rap. This one is a real baby and so sweet
Cat up for adoption at shelter. I love this one it's had problems with its eye but is ok now.

You deserve the compliments. Your work is excellent. I believe I've been out of the wedding business too long to be a lot of help with how things are done now. You might ask local wedding pros if you can apprentice and tag along on shoots.
As far as your animal photos you got great talent in that field. Your idea to volunteer at an animal shelter will put you on the right track and give you a lot more experience.
I actually volunteered to work at my church's two year old's nursery to gain experience with toddlers portraits. I learned a lot about child psychology and how to change a diaper.
I encourage you to continue toward your dream. I have a great niece living in South Carolina that is freelancing her skills trying to make a living at photography. I live 3,000 miles away but continue to see her skills grow each month. I gave her a link to my Kelby Training account so that she could take some of the hundreds of great courses on wedding photography and studio lighting. If you can afford it that also is aigret way to learn.
Again, I'm rooting for you. Keep in touch and let me know how your doing. If there's anything I'm able to do don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the wonderful compliment. I'd appreciate any critiques you may have and welcome them.
Wednesday was the first night of the new year for the camera club, it is the best thing I ever did by joining. I live for the critiques, we have two a month, one digital and one prints. We meet once a week and I love every minute of it. The club has been such a great learning experience for me.
