In the photo, you'll see a small half ring with a dot below it. This shot was taken at F36. Any idea what this is?
As I stop the aperture down the mark gradually diminishes to where at about F13 it is gone.
Saw mark on two lenses
I'm guessing something on the sensor, but seems odd that stopping down would get rid of it.
Dust on the sensor shows up the more you close down (stop down) the aperture. I'm sure dust is what it is. I rarely shoot at anything smaller than f/8 for most of what I do. Did some macro stuff a few weeks ago at f/16-22 and was amazed at the UFO's I had (unidentified fuzzy objects).

You nailed it. Took my Rocket to it, and all gone.
Thanks

Good! You're lucky the rocket fixed it.
My problem is a bit more tenacious.

I wasn't going to bring this up, but since you blundered on to it I guess I might as well. With the economy being what it is, it has had an impact on, not only the earth, but has reached beyond into the universe. Thus, limits have been put in place on aliens exploring earth. In lieu of costly intergalactic missions, aliens have surreptitiously modified a number of the more popular digital cameras and marked those with a semi-circle with a dot.
With the number of digital images being taken and posted they no longer need to spend vast sums to explore earth. They've, instead, perfected a means of beaming rays to people's heads that cause them to take photos of almost anything. When those special cameras are what are used, they beam the images back to the aliens eliminating the need to explore directly. Thus, saving a lot of money. However, this also eliminated the opportunity of placing probes up earthling's butts.
Oh, you managed to remove the spot with a rocket. Hmmm. Rocket, intergalactic travel, coincidence? I think not.
In reality, I'm glad it was only loose dirt.

How do I use the rocket technique on a Canon G12?
I have this same problem. My Nikon D70S has never given me a problem with this.
Thank you for your help.
