lynda.com is $250 a year, while kelbytraining.copm is offinr a weekend special for $159. I've used lynda quite a bit, and I like it. any comments on one vs the other?

Clickable links get quickly moved to "Links," where few people would see the question. Anyone unfamiliar with lynda.com or kelbytraining.com would not be able to answer the question, anyway. Someone already posted a notice about the Kelby sale, and that's why I asked the question. I wanted to get an idea of what one was like compared to the other.

Scott and RC Concepcion are the premier instructors for all things Photoshop, LR and ACR, and SOME other things.

I've been to several live seminars, and been duly impressed, but haven't done the online stuff yet.
I am, however, a member of NAPP.

Haven't used Lynda but like the Kelby website. The tutorials for Lightroom are excellent and depending on your interest there are a number of other categories that were worthwhile for me.

I've used lynda.com for several months, and they have a huge assortment of courses. Their annual price is $250, though. Kelby is a lot cheaper at $159, but if I don't use it enough, then it's a waste of money. I'll have to look through their offerings.

My vote is for Scott... $159 for the whole year of access to any and all of their training videos is a pretty good deal. At least for me... But, I don't really know anything about Lynda other than its more money.

Kelby site has great training for PS, ACR, Photography etc. Lynda.com has great videos also about the same thing, but has more training on a variety of subjects. I'm currently subscribed to Lynda.com to do some more advanced study on PS. By the time you subscribe to NAPP and then the training site it would be about the same as Lynda.com

Same price for 24 LR videos - 5 hrs.

Jerry, I have looked into Kelby a couple of times and always went with Lynda. Instead of using their practice material I did screenshots of the material they were using and pasted them into Photoshop. I see where Kelby has recently started offering a series by Peter Hurley. Peter has a series of videos on YouTube that are free if you are interested in production portrait and studio work. He is definitely a master. I prefer Lynda because they offer courses that I use like Excel and a few others. For Photoshop type courses it is hard to beat Deke McClelland, or Ben Long for basic camera techniques like lens and composition at Lynda. Either way you choose to go I am sure you will learn a lot.

Jerry give that money to some one for Christmas. All you need is in front of you and it FREE. I use youtube every day when I need info, also B&H. ADOBE TV. When I get time I'll make up a hit list for you and its free, PASS IT ON!

I only paid $99 per year for NAPP and the Kelby group. I did their 2 year deal which was around $170 or something like that. Anyway, they are great. I used Lynda at first, but just too expensive. Plus, Scott and his crew are pretty down to earth and funny. Another guy who I really like is Serge Ramelli. I just bought one of his programs He's really cool and has great ideas, especially in Lightroom. Good luck.

Lynda is some photography and design course, but mostly software photoshop, lightroom, painter and others technique and usage. Kelby does have plenty about software but covers a lot more about photography composition, lighting techniques

Jerry, I've never used Lynda.com, so cannot compare. Kelby's normal price is $199.00/year, but he has an offer through Dec 2 to take $40 off that price. That pricing might be only for NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals) members. Check closely. I'll hasten to add that NAPP membership has its privileges. I know, that drives the price up another $89.00/year. :-/

I've subscribed to Kelby for a couple of years. There are times where I'll go weeks without viewing any training, but there are other times when I spend hours a day watching the training.

Again, I know nothing about Lynda, but Kelby has quite a staff of folks who share in the training responsibilities. Varying perspectives are sometimes quite good.

I like Kelby because I can mark particular training as a "favorite" and can always go directly back to the training for refresher. The available training can be targeting basic concepts, or, if you are advanced, there is training for those subjects, as well.

Once in that "circle" of Kelby Training, lots of very good info gets funneled to you.

I just renewed for another year. I rely on that training for the accurate technicalities presented. Kelby and crew are very closely associated with Adobe, and get much useful information to pass along.
