You are. You are blaming the President. I'm no fan of Mr. Obama but putting the division in the country on him seems like a reach.

There is not a country in the World that has not benefited from the USA. But then, I didn't say anything to that effect.

I'm not too sure how much Hiroshima and Nagasaki benefited from the USA

I have seen this video a number of times. It has been well posted here on the Hog. It's message does have meaning but... Is this the greatest country in the world - yes it is because I made it so. I made it the greatest country in the world for me and my family. I gave to her what I could give and I take from her only what was mine. Most of all I gave her my heart and my love. It may not be the greatest country for you but you will have to ask yourself, Why not?
Although I am older now, if I could I'd fight for her again and offer my all for her.
My country, not what she can do for me but what can I do for her. If you do not love this nation of ours and do not think that she is the greatest country in the world, then you have not given enough of yourself to her.
Is America the greatest Nation in the World - Yes ... (show quote)

THANK YOU!!!!!!

Australians recognize that the US saved our butts.
Thanks again to the profoundly brave actions of the US servicemen in the Pacific.

But Bangee, dont you realize the post of mine you quoted is just black humour

3 more things Bangee,

1. If the USA took on the Tri Axis by itself, you would all be speaking German, Italian and Japanese.

2. It was not America that won WWII! it was Russia, France, America, England, India, Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea etc etc etc. A total of 24 countries fought Hitler & company

3. Australia gave 1/280th of the populations lives
in the effort to beat the Tri Axis. The USA only 1/320th.
In those terms Australia contributed more than the USA.

The figures I quote do not include civilian deaths of which Australia had 12,000 v USA none.

My source: http://warchronicle.com/numbers/WWII/deaths.htm

Enough bloody drum beating!

Sorry bear, I was directing my comment at Bangee. To grow strong you have to recognize your shorcomings. Again, I go back to how greatness is defined. How do we measure ourselves and how are we doing. eating one' chest an declaring we are the greatest doesn't make it so. That's all the initial tape was trying to say -- we have some areas where we are not living up to who we are or who we were. I was raised to serve the country which I did --22 years military service and serving my community. That's because I believe in the country but I also don't turn away from what I see and to speak up when something seems wrong. We owe the country that much. Our honesty and fidelity. I don't know about greatness, other than achievements that have been accomplished. Perhaps, it is as simple as we have stopped trying to achieve. BUT the popular consensus is the country is losing its edge when we look at broader criterion such as poverty levels, educating our youth --the latest data is dismal, infant mortality, job mobility corporate welfare, agricultural subsidies. But I could be wrong--maybe these make us great. Enough of this debate. It seems to me greatness is measured by what is achieved AND what is not.

I have no problem with you. There is no one named the "world". I live in the world in fact in many countries. Most people in the far East still think the USA is the greatest in every way. Obama is working hard to ruin that and if the demorats win next November obammy will dismantle the USA.

My last remark "There is not a country in the World that has not benefited from the USA" stands on its own.

I have no problem with you either but the heading of the topic is "America is not the greatest country in the world". That is not measured by what is achieved but compared to what other country. None come even close to-date. I wish them all well ( countries) and some deserve to catch up and perhaps bypass us some day but so far none have.

At times we seem to agree but in different words. Surely we have short comings but we don't let those short comings hold us back. We do not dwell on our weaknesses and on our mistakes. We don't cry our woes and lay down and die. We fail at times but we also pull ourselves up by our boot straps and fight on. Sure we have problems. We accept those problems and we work through them.

You sound like a man who wants to give up. We must not let you give up but stand beside you and carry on. Fight the good fight!

And I totally agree with you. Again, we both said the same thing, you just misunderstood by use of the word "world".

Then you don't hear to well. I am fighting the good fight, right now. You can't work through problems if you don't recognize them. Viewing the world through the lens of the greatest country in the world results in a distorted image. The emperor has no clothes! Lastly, you don't know me well enough to make any judgements about who I am and am not.
