When I'm out driving around along the back-roads (which I do quite often) I almost always stop along the road when I see an old dilapidated house or farmstead because I can't help thinking that maybe a hundred years or so ago this was a brand-new house, with a proud family moving in to call it their home, neighbors coming over for a house-warming party, laughter, good food, happy times. I try to visualize what it might have really been like back when this house was someone's new home. Now all that's left is what's in the viewfinder, a broken, abandoned structure only faintly echoing a history that may never be known. I really like photos like this one. I'd like to see photos you've taken of old houses and barns and sheds, and wonder what stories they could tell if only they could talk.
Have one I'm really proud of. Been shown here before, but with your ok, will post in this thread.

Like these very much. I do the same and often stop and wonder when I see 'history'. Perhaps generations were brought up in tiny houses, history passes us by and we don't notice.
Very little wood used in my part of the world. Mostly local stone used.

This one won me my new Nikon D5100. The b&w version is equally stunning.
