I intend to attempt this

I intend to attempt this magical "stunt" during Christmas which really is dangerous (don't try this at home):

I do that effect for most of my shows.

It is not an effect to be taken lightly. YouTube is full of videos 'revealing' this effect and most of them are techniques that are not to be used.

I always get a very strong reaction to this effect.

I saw a Muslim do this in Iran. He guessed which basket had the head under it every time.

The scariest part is....

there's no way to practice this without getting injured.

The second scariest part is....

I will only have one day to practice before I do it.

I debated using this in my act for over 2 years. I even felt angered by companies that encouraged using it. It is something that truly scares the bejeezus out of me.

I've spent many a sleepless night trying to figure out the safest way to do this. And I've come up with some very helpful ideas, one of which is a secret to minimize any damage done by the spike if I should happen to impale myself accidentally.

A word to the wise: DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS FEAT. IF YOU SHOULD HAPPEN TO IMPALE YOURSELF, IT COULD CAUSE AN INFECTION THAT MIGHT NOT BE CURABLE WITH ANTIBIOTICS.

IN OTHERWORDS...DEATH MIGHT BE AN EVENTUAL OUTCOME.

There are two methods that I use to perform this effect. One of them can even be done blindfolded- a real blindfold.

If you PM me, I'll get to pointed in the right direction, no pun intended.

Mark, please use your left hand if you are right handed. This is a very dangerous demonstration similar to the infamous 'bullet catch' that took many lives. Many magicians and mentalist are afraid to give this a go for obvious reasons (me included). One mental glitch and you will feel the pain of Jesus being nailed to the cross. Good luck and be sure to bring along some antiseptic, bandages and make sure the spike has been sterilized. Use it is as your last presentation. Knowing you, you will probably give a spectator the selection between the last two cups if you get that far. Be careful, please. You worry me when you say you have only one day to practice. I suggest you push down slowly during practice to eliminate injury.

In the name of entertainment....

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Let's just hope this man (me) isn't a fool. If I screw this up I will post a picture of my injured hand on UHH.

As the old vaudeville saying goes, "The show must go on." 8-)
