As if the prospect of photographing the amazing sights of the Badlands National Park and the Buffalo Gap National Grasslands were not sufficient inducement to sign up for the Hoggers' Badlands Rendezvous, here's a modest lagniappe:

As the de facto organizer of this first "Hoggers Badlands Rendezvous" , and as erstwhile university professor as well as long-time instructor of photography classes, short courses, seminars, and workshops as well as small-group and one-on-one private tutelage, participants will, at absolutely NO EXTRA CHARGE*, be welcome to attend a noon-hour or evening seminar ( time yet-to-be-determined) on RAW exposure and ETTR ! But wait! There's more! For ABSOLUTELY NO EXTRA CHARGE*you will learn how to maximize image data quality by utilizing your camera's "Stealth Dynamic Range"...that extra, RAW-available dynamic range your camera's manufacturer doesn't tell you about! And if you've not the slightest interest in RAW exposure you have two options: go off on your own to enjoy the joys of the noonday sun and noon-hour, high-Sun photography...or...sit quietly and catch some lunch-time Zzzzzzs , lulled to sleep by my presentation (no snoring allowed !)...and remember, at other times people pay the big bucks to hear that self-same presentation! And if nobody shows up...what the Hell...I love the sound of my own voice and can't wait to hear how I'll say what I have to say!
Now...howzat fer a deal?

* Remember, there's no charge by either the UHH nor by the organizers for the "Rondy" , so we're talking one big Phriggin Phabulous' Phree Fotographic Extravaganza from start to finish! And if a simple Vaganza weren't enought, note that this will be an EXTRA Vaganza!

or...y'could stay home, rearrange yer sock drawer, and take in a movie...with popcorn....

i'm jus' sayin'....

get your names and email addresses in so this evening and tomorrow we can start sorting out everyone's available dates.

Then, with group emailings, I'll be asking for everyone's free dates from May through August and will choose he dates that the majority will be able to attend, so if you'd like to be in on the planning, just send me your mail address for now, and be checking on your available dates that I'll be asking for later

It will be so for any RAW shooters, as well as for those thinking about starting to shoot RAW. It's just, I hope, another way to boost attendance.

Hey, Macromad,
Real sorry you won't be able to make it! Should be a good time for all. If this becomes a yearly thing, maybe there's still a chance y'might show up, hey?

I know nothing about the Badlands so I would like you to choose the best time of year to be there. Is this going to be a pup tent at night thing or clean sheets and a shower thing?
I'd like to know more about the outing and I promise not to snore during your lectures. scox0300@mac.com

The Badlands....cold and windy in the winter, hot and windy in the summer. Best times can be spring or fall. But you know it is in South Dakota so snow can happen any time in the spring and fall as well as winter. But by spring or fall we're not into the winter deep freeze so snow melts pretty fast.

Not sure of what sleeping arrangements will be made, but there are some small motels in the area and also Wall, SD isn't too far from there. Also, there are some campgrounds in the area. We live in a motorhome so if we're in SD when they have this, we'll stay in our home on wheels at probably the Badlands KOA. Our RV is our home 365/24/7.

For dates and info on this get together you can send any info to sdakwind@me.com
