Just a little car show photo for the boys.
A nice flash back of what was.
Nice shot. Probably the only model (except for the Pinto) that Ford lost money on. :-D

What a beautiful car! Thanks for sharing, HT!   8-)

I think the demise of the Edsel was very unfortunate. It was basically a good car & in many ways, was years ahead of its time. That grotesquely obscene grille would not have helped its survival. Anyway, a good photo of a smart looking car. JMO, lol.

Indeed - the push-button gear selector in the steering wheel - and the styling!
Sadly if it had been as popular in 1958 as it is today, Ford would have made tons of money on it....

I remember when it first came out to much fanfare, and then, thud. The grill was quite a styling mistake, and the name didn't help either. Thought some of you folks might get a kick out of seeing one.
Good to see one of these again! Some other early 20s tried to drag one of these against my 57 supercharged Pontiac convertible, the Pontiac blew them away!

I remember drag racing from stop lights back in the pre-seatbelt days. It's amazing that so many of us survived. :P
As I have read (who knows if its true) the reason for the Edsel's demise was the fact it was advertised for the person who had not yet made it but was on the way up. Of course no one wants to be identified as someone who has not yet made it, especially in the late fifties.
Damn, Jinande, a blown 57 Pontiac, you dog!
I'm a bit younger, had a 67 Roadrunner and wheel standing
VW H/G 11 second sleeper, surprised many a Detroit muscle pilot at the stoplight drags in the late 60's.
Best regards to all true gearheads,

This one has "lake pipes" (side exhaust) I don't think that was a factory option. Nice car.
Push button gear selection became popular in several other cars about this time. Ford and Chrysler products.
I believe this would be termed a "mild kustom" back in the day of Kalifornia Kustom Kulture, of course the painted bumpers are a modern touch. Gotta love the skirts. Also perhaps the hood ornament and maybe some side trim have been "shaved". Other than the bumpers, its right out of my ill spent youth.
Best regards,
Janko
