Mischievous- showing a playful desire to cause trouble.

Image data - 1/320s, iso200, nikon 24-70 2.8@ 70mm and f4.5, auto wb,. It was a sunny day but, taken in full shade with existing light only. Cropped to please my eyes.

Honest opinions and suggested improvements are always valued.

Mischievous? Add a hint of a smile and it will look the way you want. I do like the way you are drawn to her eye though. S-

I'd probably say more flirtatious than mischievous. Those piercing BLUE eyes, interesting 'peek' out from under the hat that I haven't seen 100's of times, perfect skin tones, no ugly shadows to be seen, even nice bokah. So, what's not to like, well, her hair has lost any detail that I can see and so it just looks like a very dark top right corner, and the bow is also very dark and is devoid of detail as well.

Maybe it's the resolution of my iPad - an old one, at that, and if I saw it on a better monitor, everything would look a little crisper.

The only thing that I would change is to remove the wisp of hair from above the subjects hand and spilling on to her shoulder. Other than that I think it is a well composed and lit photograph.

Everything is just about spot on, as jonsommer has said there is a loss of detail in the hair. Perhaps there is too much hat?

Thank you. It's the details you mention that I have yet to learn to easily notice. It's not your monitor. The hair and the bow could both have used at least a .66 exposure increase. I still doubt that everything would have been crisp. My DOF calc says I only had a 3" dof on the image. And, I know the pose is far from unique but, I still like the look. Again, thank you.

Thanks wonky. There was a breeze and she had wild hairs going everywhere. I removed a couple from the face but paid little attention to the hand.

An arresting image! great composition. hard to beat skilful combo of R.O.Thirds and a strong diagonal!
Kudos!

I think "sultry" is more like it. Well, maybe, "I'm trying to be sultry. Aw, come on!"

I love the idea of it.

I'd like to see her nose, i.e. tip the hat up a bit more, and have the eye sharper and perhaps a bit brighter. Then it would be stunning and hold my interest more.

A recent article I read (Shutterbug?) suggested that people images get more engaging if you have them (very slightly) squint. I haven't tried it but fooling with it and getting a Mona Lisa smile could be fun if your model is patient.

At 15, Paw-Paw prefers she tries more for the "mischievous" look. Sultry can wait until she's 35 or so.

Thanks for the suggestions MtnMan. My model is very patient. She just doesn't get to visit often enough.
