I might have an opportunity to redo over Thanksgiving. Any suggestions to improve. What do you think about the processing done? The lighting? Angle shot?

Not bad! In my experience there is only so much, or rather so little that you can do with newborns. They flop. They don't smile (they have gas  ). We adore them. I love the color scheme, the way the rug echoes the flower. I might tone down her body so as to keep maximum attention on that adorable face.

Thank you. I have been playing with these pictures all day today. I don't do much portrait photography, only the grandkids. This is the newest.

She's beautiful. :-) And I think she's already plumped up a little since birth. I'm sorry. I can't critique your granddaughter. She's perfect.

Oh please don't critique my granddaughter, critique the job I did photographing her. We all know she is perfect. :-D

She's a beauty! I wish I could have done half as well with my grandson's. I agree with the poster who said you might want to lower the light on her body to emphasize that sweet face. New babies are so light, they are kind of like trying to shoot snow. Challenging to expose for.

You may have a part time career ahead of you with newborn photos. I hear it's a great business and it looks like you have a gift for it. This is just the kind of shots that the new moms love.

There isn't to much to say, I felt the only problem was the arm against the body. Babies are so white. I just added a little shading along the arm. Don't know if works any better or not.

Thank you. It sure isn't second nature doing these yet. I think I need 5 more to practice on. :-D

Thank you. I have gone back and lightened her body. My problem with this little girl was the red splotches. I have been running actions backwards trying to figure out what they did and why when they made them. Then working it forward on another picture. Good thing I have google. :-D
I wrestled with the light during this shoot. We wanted natural light, but it was overcast and the light was constantly changing.

Another beautiful baby photo. I do like the color, the pose, and the headband. I noticed that whatever softening action you used left a significant blur between the edge of the baby's skin/hair and the background in several areas. Also, there is an abrupt change between blur and no blur where the foreground and the baby blanket merge. They look to be on the same focal plane. This makes the pp a little too obvious for me. I would love to see a slightly less softened version.

I know I'm going to get in trouble for this, but these are the opinions of a doddering old grandfather of (at last count) about 20 or 22 grandchildren. She is a little doll. The colors are cute and well-coordinated. The CONCEPT of the pose is great. I am NOT comfortable with the angle of the neck to the body. I would much rather see the body lowered to horizontal. Sorry, CM, grandmas see no wrong and do no wrong. It's just us old grandpas that worry so.

The second edit is a lovely image of CM's granddaughter. It might be nice to share what you did.

First let me say congratulations ! She is beautiful !
I always thought babies would be easy to photograph because unlike toddlers
They can't get up and run away! Boy was I wrong.
My 2 cents for what it's worth ..
The light is two bright especially in her body.
The pose is very cute but if you can next time try to unfurl her little fingers
So they don't look as though they are missing. It takes a bit of patience as they like to keep them clutched. Maybe try putting her hand along side her body.
Can't wait to see more.
