Better Not to be Married Under ACA

My numbers are very close, but the results are evident.
A single person will not get a subsidy if their income is over
$45,000. A married couple will not get a subsidy if their combined income is over $68,000. This is just another screwing in Obamacare. Someone may want to correct the numbers and replace them with the exact amount.

I wouldn't need a subsidy if I had an income of $45,000. It astonishes me what some people consider poverty.

Allow me:
The subsidies (tax credits) vary. You may have income between 100% to 400% of the Federal Poverty Level to qualify for a tax credit. For a family of four, that's a range of $23,550-$94,200. The subsidy amount varies according to your income. For a single person, 100%-400% range is $11,490 to $45,960. A married couple = $15,510-$62,040.
The amounts go up roughly $4,000 per person in household.
And don't worry, with a single person making 400% FPL, the subsidy is very low. And it's not considered poverty. It's FOUR TIMES FPL.

Most public aid follows FPL guidelines. I get where you're coming from, though. Seems logical that twice as many people should be allowed twice as much income. Not so.
In fact, FPL for one person is $11,490. Can you guess what FPL is for a family of eight? $11,490 X 8= 91,920, right? NO-! FPL for family of eight is only $39,630!

It depends on where you live. I used to live 20 miles from Philadelphia and today $45,000 it that area is just getting by with the basics.

NO. There should be no subsidy at all. People should be able to buy the insurance they want and can afford. If they cannot afford insurance, then the government should step in with health care and leave the rest of the people alone. Define a minimum income.

So, you are FOR subsidized healthcare.

You are FOR the government paying for healthcare, for people who can't afford it.

Where does THAT money come from?

The same place it comes from now, you and me. That is what the government is for. To provide for the people who cannot provide for themselves. Who do you think pays for Medicaid even though there is a law that states that when you die, the state has the right to take all your property. That was passed in 1993. They haven't enforced it up until now.
