Little post processing was done on this picture.

It is a good photograph; but I think scenes like this have more impact when shot at an angle to the subject. (which I assume is the mountains in the background.) That mound is also somewhat distracting. The photo does have amazing color in the sky and the sharp detail in the mountains is most impressive.

Since I loved your Badlands II so much, it's hard to be objective here :) Sort of looks like what a tourist would capture from a moving car (and I would be one of them - ha).

I really like this picture. I feel like I am back visiting the Badlands. I keep looking for the prairie dogs.

We have visited SD at least 10X and the Badlands have always been a must stop. There is a small motel at the backside of the Badlands that is a really nice place to stay. The views are amazing.

Having something in focus in the foreground really helps this kind of picture. It might be more powerful if you were closer to the lump and had it fill more of the foreground frame in sharp focus; keeping it centered on the thirds point as you have.

Might try some crops to see how it might look.

Maybe something like this.

Just lost my SSD(operational hard drive)today. My data drive is still intact. Going to be out of production for a while, until I reinstall all softwares.

Rudolf,

You have a potentially good photograph, but it still needs a little help.

From your original file try to crop the scene so the hill is more to the left edge, but not touching the frame. This will move the large mountain more to the top center, but not dead center. Keep the horizon above the center line of the frame, and level.

When finished with the crop the hill should be in the left 1/3 of the frame, but not dominate. The foot trails should lead the eye around the right side of the hill and into the distant mountain.

For PP the grass lands seem to have lost character (clarity of detail), this may have been a result of making the sky standout in the image, but could be corrected during processing the image.

You have a good start, here, just a little more tweaking.

Thanks for the suggestion. My SSD died yesterday in my desktop. I'm somewhat out of luck until a replacement is mailed from the manufacturer.

I agreed that a crop was in order(cropped out the dandelion harvest), but not only that, I wanted to get rid of the path leading to the mound on the left. It just didn't add anything useful. Saturated and upped the contrast. Matted for a finished effect.

Did you have an image of your executable programs? I too use an SSD as my Program Drive, and backup to a 2 TB portable USB drive. I have never tried a restore, however.

I wish I had cloned the complete operating drive, all 62 gigs. OCZ waranty department will try their best restoring the unit. I hope they are able to exchange the memory chip controller.
