Old sawmill windows

This old sawmill has a strange siding on it. It almost looks like sandpaper. I also like these windows. This was shot as the sun was almost setting with my 50mm f/1.4. My questions is in terms of interest. Is there anything about this composition that is captivating. I like it; but I'm not sure it has enough impact to make it very interesting to others.

I like the windows, and the reflection in the nearest one, but don't like the outdoor light or the dark shed in the back. I did a quick edit with cropping, and cloning out the light. Does this appeal to you?

For some reason, the shed is darker on the forum than when I was working the shot in lightroom. I agree with the light, though. I was toying with cloning it out, and now that I see it without the light, you are absolutely right. Thanks for your efforts and your insights.

Before I saw Heirloom's edit, I was wishing the shed wasn't there. Voila! This is an image I can imagine having lots of versions, and a location with lots of potential - different times of day, angles and such. Definitely not boring!

Thanks, Linda. I've taken several shots here. This seems to be the best one so far. I appreciate your input.

Yes it is captivating -- especially with the shed cropped out and viewed in download. Why? I cannot put it into words and maybe we shouldn't try.
Simply put, I like it.

Thanks, Pierre. I agree with the crop and the cloning of the lamp. That still leaves the question: What makes this interesting? That I can't answer; but I do know that every time I pass that building (which is often) I think about photographing it. I'll keep working on it. If I get anything else good, I'll be sure to post it.

Except for the title, I would never guess what this represents. Maybe you can find a vantage point that will allow you to tell the story

It looks more timeless without the modern light. Glad you like the idea of removing it. The shed looked uninteresting and darkly creepy to me, and it seems like you only need a bit of trees and sky, especially since some trees are reflected in the window. It's always nice to have an extra pair of eyes.

In the summer they have it opened up; but I think they do this only to air the place out. The machinery has long been removed.
