No bonus points for naming the song, album title and band. And please comment on the image :-)

This man looks to me like he has sad memories and possibly some regrets on his mind. He's warming his bones in the last few rays of sunlight on the street before the shadows take over and his thin frame feels the cold. This is not the last beer he will have today. Tomorrow will be much the same.

It's melancholy, but beautifully photographed. Everything that should be sharp is sharp as a tack. Dynamic range is great. Composition is great. Lighting on the subject is just right. It tells a story and makes you wonder about the man's life.

Don't know the song. I like the picture. Compositionally very, very strong, with almost every line and shadow leading straight to the bright, crisp figure on the curb (I think you spell it kerb). I am very interested in his story. From his beard, hair, and dress (I think he is wearing the shalwar kameez of South Asia—) I wonder if he is Pakistani or Afghan. His shoes are so new they squeak and his dress is not at all dirty or worn, therefore I tend to think he is not at all indigent. But if he is from South Asia he might be Muslim, in which case "This Bud [should not be] for you!" But then, he could be Hindu, or even Christian, in which case the Bud is perfectly all right, except that he is enjoying it in an alley in the sun. Why? Ah. The wife! It's not a religious prohibition that makes him want to enjoy his suds in private; it's the Mrs who will work him over in the alley if she catches him!

Okay. Got that solved.

(By the way, I like the cyclist pedaling away in the shadow—makes a nice counterpoint.)

Graham, I am going to say the first thing that struck me. The shadows look to me like it's late afternoon. Happy hour. It seems fitting. This one is one of my favorites. I love the bicycler too. Whatever Chuck said..counterpoint...it lends more balance to the image. It would have been okay without it, but it's like the topping on the dessert.

Bangladeshi would be nearer the mark Chuck, as Brick Lane is predominately inhabited by immigrants from there. But he could be from any of the places you mention :-)

Aha! Therefore it is most likely that both the Mrs AND the Imam are looking for the poor fellow, may he enjoy his suds in peace.

Truly another wonderful picture, Graham. I still couldn't do it, but I love to see it.

Rolling Stones. The Spider and the Fly. What, no bonus points?

I do like the image. I looked at it quite a while trying to read his mind. Well dressed, a smoke and a beer. Maybe drives that truck and is waiting for somebody. Well shot.

Thanks RicknJude but you didn't name the album :-)

Album "Out of Our Heads". Great shot as usual. The bicycle rider is an important element. I would remove the distracting auto. Reminded me of "Sunday Morning Sidewalk" written by Kris Kristofferson and recorded by Johnny Cash, one of my all time favorites. Beautiful work, composition, lighting, subject matter, etc. When is the next coffee table book coming out?

The composition is very strong and I really like the bicycle. At first I thought the shadows might be a bit harsh; but then I looked at it in download and it really came together. I think this might be one of your very best. Of course that is like saying the Mona Lisa is better than DaVinci's other seven oil paintings. Your work is really inspirational to me. The compositions are fantastic and the technical aspects are always impeccable. Very nice photo.

Kris and Johnny got together with Sunday Morning Coming Down.

The photo has everything: focus, composition point of view, everything but I don't like it, reminds me of me.

I like it. Some of the shadows act as leading lines and draw your eye right to the guy on the curb. Again a picture where nobody but you the photographer is even noticing him.

If those are gang signs on the window behind our guy it could add another dimension to the picture.
Every time I have seen one of your shots I never seem to be able to plumb the depth of them . I keep going back and finding more. Thank you.

I like the shot, yet I think it could be enhanced by adding a bit of grunge, a la tone mapping in an HDR program.

Graham, my first impression was that the figure was kind of a homeless guy, then as Chuck pointed out, his clothes were very nice, including his shoes. They had creases in the pants and looked new..........I too looked at your image again and again......I think that means that it's good if you keep coming back for more, right? I think the composition is very strong, LOVE the b&W, and the story you are telling, whatever that might be. I'm still confused a little because he is so well dressed but has the posture and actions of a homeless person drinking and smoking. Can you give us more info?
I have been following your "street" photos for a while now and am very impressed with everything you have shown so far. Keep em comin'!
