Need help with the sun

I shot this when there was no clouds to help block the sun. I am not happy with the results. I have problems with the sun and could use lots of help. Please feel free to edit etc. and let me know what you did. Thank you

Here is my Posting . Since you mentioned there wasn't any clouds to cover the sun lightly . I made a few minor changes you may or may not like . I used Photoshop CC. I used the burn tool to darken the sun flaring casted onto the end of the dock and the two people standing there . I then added a cloud over most of the sun . I then used the paint brush to lightly bend the flare out around the sun . I didn't change any thing else so not to take away too much from the original ... Let me know what you think , good or bad .Tommy
