I'm not posting this as a good photo. Go ahead and laugh all you want. It's not really a photo anymore. I am attempting to find and learn the many tools and features tucked away in PSE12.
Saw a sunburst-shaped oil stain yesterday and wondered if it was possible to turn it into a good-looking photo. The answer was NO, but I used it as "scrap canvas" to play with star-shaped brushes, supplied frames, the star-burst effect and other doo-dads. I am going to learn to use all of this program. It will take more odd experiments, but I am on a mission. Please excuse me if I post weird test photos from time to time.
Testing, testing...
It would be a good thing to have a 'Photoshop' section where we can put our photoshop attempts for review. Like your abstract. I'm more into photo manipulation. Like this one of a ground hog and a NIK filter.

I realize it looks like a porcupine with a bad case of the mange. :P

That's a cute photo. He really looks at one with his surroundings! A photoshop experiments section is not a bad idea. I would post there for sure! :-P
I can hear Morgan Freeman doing the voice over now...
"Is it possible for an oil stain to take over the universe? Heirloom Tomato seems to think so...and here is the proof."
Really cool!!!

Ha ha, thank you for the hearty laugh. It is a silly image but it was fun to learn a few new tools. I've got a long way to go.....

Look carefully at the picture you posted one more time, HT. It is not a bad picture at all if you will only see it in a different context, think background to another picture.
This is a lovely background shot. Now it just needs a subject to spice it up a bit.
Good job, HT! You're better than you think!   8-)

Thanks, Mark. Maybe I'll try that because I want to try something else that is new for me. I could use this as a background. This picture is only a learning exercise. The more I did to it the uglier it became. Did learn to scatter stars, though!

Menkaure, which NIK filter did you use for your groundhog?

You are much too kind. I don't think I'll post more self-taught classroom experiments unless they look better than this one. :P

I'm thinking burst iris in someone's eye, but that might not be right :)

Bob...
I'm sorry I made a mistake. The filter was 'Fractalius' from Redfield. I have both sets and it gets confusing sometimes.

I am so impressed! With you, HT, more than your photo. I just do not have the capacity to do this tho' I know I should. It would be like reading my insurance plan or car manual=- I'm glad the stuff is in there to pull out when I need it but would be torture for me to read.
