Graham, I have taken many pictures by standing in the middle of the road. At the end of the day they, by my eyes, were the least interesting of the group I shot that day. I suspect the same is true with this. Well shot, nice colors, perfect focus. Interesting? Maybe not.

Man I love this, Graham. I felt like I was being pulled in by a vacuum when I opened the thread. You've got the exact right angle here. Your sky is great! Riding into the storm. I love it. If I picked on any one thing, it would be the yellow. But I love the color in the clouds so much, I'm not sure if I'd like the mono version.

Graham, that's exactly how the sky looked nearly every day when I was visiting the UK a couple of weeks ago. :)

Perhaps that's why I like the photograph.....and the yellow is what makes it interesting to me. 8-)

To respond as specifically as possible to Graham's question, they lead to a point of disappearance beyond and below the skyline of the higher land distant to the end of the bridge. The P.O.D. indicates the level of the prspective's horizon. I make this point because there often is confusion amongst tyro artist that "shouldn't the P.O.D. always be at the horizon ( confusing visible skyline for "horizon").

Tongue is a village in Scotland, just the other side of the causeway which crosses the Kyle of Tongue. Google it :-)

I'll assume that you posted to evoke some Analysis discussion. Well, this is a disappearing road and then some. The lead lines of the centre and edges of the road are reinforced many times over by the railings, and that wouldn't be half as effective if they weren't symmetrical (in fact, the whole shot smacks of symmetry - even the distant cloud cover). The yellow lines give a final colourful reinforcement to the other lead lines.

And is that Nightski that I see in the far distance? ( :-) ).

I wish there was a goal in this photo. Maybe 1 hill at the end a thunderstorm, maybe a dog walking down the middle of the road. While it is attractive I am with Charryl.
