I started making photos 56 years ago with an Argus C3. My present equipment includes a Nikon D-300. I use Paint Shop Pro X3, and am in the process of learning Photo Shop CS3. I teach basic digital and PSP in the RV resort where we spent the winter.
It has been my privilege to shoot in the arena at Cheyenne Frontier Days for the daily newspaper where I was Production Director. I still do it for fun.
My wife and I live in Cheyenne in the summer, and move to deep South Texas ( just 6 miles from Mexico, and close to the gulf) in the winter.

That's my perch

Howdy Dick,

Welcome pardner!

I really like your images but, and there had to be a but, the first one looks just a touch too saturated and contrasty, some of the whites are blown out and even the out of focus greens in the bottom right corner seem especially vivid. Having said that, it is still a great photo.

I might blur the background just a bit in #2 but that's it, amazingly sharp for an action photo.

#3 is perfect, wouldn't change a thing - repeating patterns, leading lines, people for perspective, what a fantastic capture.

Just my opinion and post more soon, your work is top notch!

Eric

you are right about #1, I pushed it a little to far.

The f-stop on #2 was f-11. Should have gone to 5.6 Still learning what the D-300 can do. Hopefully I will become more proficient on Photo Shop and softing the background. But I like the people's reaction to watching the ride.

#3 is one of my better efforts.

Thanks

Dick

Howdy Dick, br br Welcome pardner! br br I reall... (show quote)

I have to disagree with Eric, I love the photos of the birds for me the colors are perfect and the contrast is outstanding. I love it. I agree that the action photo would benefit from a blurred background but the photo as is a great photo. Number three is really a great photo. Very good for a first post, keep em coming.
