This was taken on a cold and windy morning. I had to hold my heavy
Manfrotto tripod with my left hand so it would not topple over with the camera. 1 sec, f/22, ISO200

That is beautiful, and I like the subtle way you framed it, too.

Stark (this refers to the photo).

A BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) friend once told me that the art of matting a photo consists of finding a color within the photo, then matching it. The trick, he said, is that this color should not be the predominant color, but a small swatch of a hue embedded deeply inside the photo. So, although this is totally random, I would choose a different matte color. You already have plenty of it at the bottom of the frame.

That is a great advise, Thanks.

Amazing image!
I'm entraced with how my gaze is taken from foreground sand to base of standing stone...then on back to horizon...and up and forward through astounding sky to tree's branches, and down to standing stone..a cycle wihin a plane perperpcicular to the physical surface of the image...into up...and back out...then down...and again!
Powerful!

Lovely picture as is, and another option would be to move to the left and maybe back a bit to create more of a diagonal between the stone and the tree.

Great color, great composition, wonderful subject matter. I love the foreground contents that lead me further into the image. I can't stop looking at it. It's just so beautiful.

In a PM with Rudolf, I was given permission to try out a different matte on his masterpiece at Hunting Beach.

The only thing I can think of to add to the above comments, is that when looking at this photo, I FEEL THE COLD that you were experiencing. Capturing COLD in a photo isn't easy, but you got it.

I like Bob's frame the best, but somehow I'm wanting a little white visual relief around the perimeter that would give a little visual separation from the great color in the photo and the frame, maybe an inch or two would do.

Great photograph.

WOW!!! Fantastic, showed your framing to my wife. She is urging me to have it printed and framed.

Glad you both liked it. I think I sent you the recipe, so now you can apply the same technique to all those beautiful photos you have sitting on your hard drive.
