Still looking to buy new camera but haven't made up my mind yet. Which camera between A57, A58 & A65. Comparing them I don't see that much significance between them for $200. Thanks.

The performance difference aren't all that great.

I'd say the biggest advantage does to the a58 which has the best viewfinder of the three, it's the 1440 OLED and it does very well with eye relief for spectacle wearers. Having said that, it's been built down to a price to an extent that many a57 users don't see it as a worthwhile upgrade even with it's brand new 20MP Sensor.

The a65 has better buld but it must be due for replacement pretty soon; I reckon they'll give it the new 24MP Sensor and the OLED VF.

The A57, (if still available) is the best choice IMO. The A65 and A57 run close, however. Take a look at this link:

I have the a57 and like it. But I'm also looking for a second body and want to upgrade as well. But looking at the a77. The pro quality body is what appeals to me over the a65 and of course the 24mp sensor and processor. I think the a77 will be replaced with and upgrade soon so the price on it now has been dropping for a while and now it's not much different than the a65. So if you're going to the a65 then bide your time and get the a77 instead. I think it would be better bang for your buck.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm leaning the same way after comparing the two. Since mine is just for retirement enjoyment I don't see spending the additional money for the difference.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's great to have such a group of "friends" like UHH to bounce things off of.

Thanks for sharing. I have not even looked at the a58. I'll take a look at it too.

The A77 blows all of them out of the water, and the price has come way down. much, much better camera. A65 is better than the A57, or A58. New camera's coming out 1st quarter of year prices will be high but the A77 will be had for much less. You also might look on the sony web site for a remanufactured A77 at a nice price now

That is my thought in agreement with others who are wondering why the a77 is not in your list. The a77 is a great crop sensor camera and would the one I would upgrade to when I get the money.

That would be nice but a little too expensive right now.

Check the price of the A77 again. It really HAS dropped and as lovitlots, GeneS, and chapjohn all said, it is an EXCELLENT, very powerful, versatile camera. A REALLY good piece of kit for the money. If you can swing it, THAT is the way to go....

I've been taking pictures since the 60's and a trained photographer since the '70s when I started using Minolta products.

Let me tell you, the A77 is THE best camera I have ever owned. EXTREMELY powerful and versatile and with good glass up front, it takes really, REALLY great pictures with EXCELLENT image quality.

It was worth the price I paid for it and the price has dropped $400 since that time.

(The 16-50mm f/2.8 "kit" lens package is the way to go; you get $100 of the price of the lens when you buy it hat way. )

I'm assuming that Brow3904 already has the glass and budget is a limiting factor. So body only price is probably all that matters. Up here right now the difference is $250. I imagine by Christmas that difference will become even smaller.
