This site could be a jewel but frankly all the pro and anti politcal chats are giving me second thoughts. We all are entitled to our opinions and I can respect that but from what I see these subjects will fester into more than just a friendly debate. My choice is to avoid reading them and just hope there is enough actual photography related subjects to make it worth a visit now and again. No offense intended to anyone. Just stating my humble position.

Just open up the ALL SECTIONS link from the HOME page and then "Subscribe" to the sections you are interested in and LEAVE OUT the Chit Chat section where all that stuff is rampant!!
That way when you click on the Newest Topics you only see posts in the sections you are really interested in!

Hi Dave, welcome to the hog. That is the beauty of our site. It caters to many diversified people. There is something for everyone here. And, if you are not into certain aspects of this blog, then you can just dial them out. This is, for the most part, a photography blog. We help each other out with problems and share photos with each other. So, blank out all that you are not interested in and concentrate the other parts.

Welcome Dave. I've been a member about as long as anyone you will find still here who has not either been run off or voluntarily run away. You are right to be concerned about all that stuff because it doesn't stay in the chit chat section where it mostly takes place. Those argumentative folks who enjoy strife in their lives bring it out into the broader forum and their attitudes spill over into perfectly civil discussions about photography. If I were King, the chit chat section would be closed down and all the people who frequent that place for the purpose of arguing politics and religion would have their membership revoked. But, that said, there's a bounty of photographic knowledge and pleasure to be gained such that if you just avoid those discussions, on balance it pays off to hang around.
