New Forum Suggestion: Nasty Folks

I would like to see a Forum for those whose posts reveal no interest in photography, but rather the exhilaration they experience from ad hominem attacks on folks whose sin is nothing more than the offering of their opinion. I for one am sick and tired of it, and I am tempted (though not ready yet) to abandon all that beauty and useful information the overwhelming majority of posters bring to UHH, in order to rid my life of the Nasty Folks.

They already have the forum you speak of, it's called General Chit-Chat. Almost all of the non-photography trolls reside there.

Granted there are bouts of nasty personal conflicts that erupt in the photo sections now and again and some venomous critique given at times by non-diplomatic photographic neophytes, but all and all it is mainly in Chit Chat.

So, my suggestions to you, if you let such faceless strangers get under your skin, are simple. Stay out of the Chit Chat Section and immediately leave any photo areas as soon as you see storm clouds. Hope this helps. 8-)

Ram, I'm sure I'd be the first to go.
As a responder, we don't always get it right, and maybe it comes across badly. I for one, have been called every derogatory name in the book.
And Ram, No offense, but I've never even heard of you before. Or is it just my sheltered rose colored glasses, that I hadn't noticed you before. Don't mean that in a bad way, but just those that are very visible are likely to get themselves into trouble more often.
I'll agree, there are times someone rubs me a little funny. I just roll with it, since they are probably in hiding and behind a 40" monitor, where they are completely insignificant anyway. I'll admit, if I knew where they lived, I'd go over and give them a wedgie they would not soon forget !!
Anyway Ram, what are you gonna do. I don't have the time to whine about it.
Let me know if you find one of them, so I can go over and give'm that wedgie.
Ram, thanks for shedding some light on it though.
I'll try to behave myself.
Happy shooting
SS

Ignoring them is certainly the right thing to do, but tiresome.

I'm a newbie here, but I have found the denizens to be polite, cheerful, helpful, supportive, and an overall delight to work with. There will always be arsehats and jackwagons— after all, this is the internet! Ignore 'em. They really like it when you lash back at them. I guess their local dominatrix was closed that day...

Unfortunately, those folks are everywhere in life. Don't let them get to you and continue to enjoy and learn from all the knowledgeable and really nice folks on here. There are a whole lot more really pleasant and wonderful than there are the ogre's, so sit back and forget about the few jerks and enjoy the all of the others.

And the problem is you couldn't keep the beasts in that cage - they'd still be free to roam and exercise their vituperative behavior.

:D I used to go there a bit but soon realized it was difficult, if not impossible, to have a reasonable conversation there without someone putting you down or calling you a name. Opinions run strong and tempers run high, but facts seem to be in short supply. There seems to be no control by admin. Life is too short. I don't bother with it anymore and tend to avoid the worst offenders when I occasionally run into them on the photography forum.
