Here's a couple from a flyover of white pelicans from last week.

Enjoyable professional photos Phil. Tell me, do you direct the pelicans to fly in those formations then give them fish afterward as a reward? :-D

You have hit the nail on the head as far as bird photography goes...giving them direction. All the time when I am out there and see birds I tell them what I want them to do:
Turn this way
Move out of the shadow
Fly in that direction
Take off now
Etc. Etc. Etc.
But do they listen? They do not! They are very poor at taking direction.
Sometimes I even think the birds are actually more concerned with living their lives then my photos. Can you believe that attitude?!? :-)

Those eagles are not a whole lot better behaved. I have plenty of issues with them as well. :D

Thanks, we had three come in yesterday and land in the marsh pond but they didn't stick around too long.

Stunning series. It looks like they performed an aerial ballet just for you.

Great photos. Lov'em! Are they just passing through or will they hang around?
Just visited your website and saw that the white pelicans are a rarity for your area, too. I was so excited to see them on Mobile Bay a few days ago. Might they hang around for a few days on their way through, or do they only overnight and get back on the road at sunup?
Greatly enjoyed your website. I will be visiting it again when I have more time to spend.
Love the flight formations!!
