What to do With Photo Rejects

Often when I'm out shooting I'll keep maybe 1 out of 20 shots. There are lots of reasons for this. If the lighting is tricky I "bracket" my exposures. This means I set my camera to take 3 photographs, the first is exposed normally the second add 2 stops more light & the final shot subtracts 2 stops of light.

Secondly if I'm hand holding my camera at very slow shutter speeds I'll shoot a burst of 3-4 shots guaranteeing one will be stable & sharp.

This leaves a lot of shots I don't need. Sometime I miss a shot by framing the subject poorly. Here's something you can try with such a photograph. :)

Tiger, Tiger
Tiger, Tiger...

Very well done. Love tigers (especialy the Detroit kind or tony the) If i have a shot where the focus is soft or is intersting colors that i think i can work some photoshop magic on i will tag the photo with a special projects tag to save it for a rainy day.

What a fantastic idea.

Wow... suddenly I realize just how much of myself I've lost over the years and how absolutely ASLEEP I've been (creatively-speaking), too.

My ratio is even worse: average 1 hour walk = @130 photos. Of those @ 12 are worth saving at all... and MAYBE 1-4 are what I consider a personal coup.

I only print what I need and from the ones that I thought were really special... and with PAPER and other things, I'm usually pretty creative. (Even make my own paper, and candles and soaps and... )

This is very inspiring... maybe the kick-in-the-pants I've been needing. I'm so glad I DID pop on today (had decided to give y'all a break from me for a few days lol)

Thanks again!

tilde a day without you is a day without sunshine  You db and yooper are the only reason I am still here today for reasons you know. i have photos that have great color and compisition but the focus is soft. I will turn them into useable pieces by converting them with a watercolor or oil painting filter in elements2. then i intentionaly less sharpen the image so it looks almost impressionistic. so that the out of focus area doesn't matter. Ill try to locate a particular shot i have in mind and then post it.

Postcards, Greeting Card, Posters & Calendars are other examples of creative uses for partial photos. Just suggesting the rest is there is all that is needed.

Do you mind if I save this pic to use as a reference? I would love to try a Lion for my neice, a Senior this year with a Lion Mascot...she has been accepted to TAMU Galveston for Marine Biology so a dolphin or shamu would also be wonderful...! Needed a kick start...Thanks...! Linda
